    After the apparent suspension by his party’s provincial leadership, the current Executive Mayor of Maluti a Phofung (MAP) Cllr Gilbert Mokotso alongside Members of Mayoral Committee (MMC’s) continued to accelerate the mandate of Batho Pele principles as one of government’s key priorities and met with MAP employees at Kestell Unit on Thursday 13th September 2018.

    The purpose of the meeting was to enlighten the employees about the progress of municipality since the intervention of Administrators and how the municipality will resolve their crisis such as working conditions, limited resources and shortage of staff among others. The Executive Mayor stated that the collective is aware of the inadequate tools of trade at Kestell Unit but are committed to bring about change in the institution by implementing Forensic Audit as it will assist in rooting out corruption, “Kea tseba lea tseba hore maemo a dipolotiki ha a tsitsa ha jwale empa ha se lebaka la hore sitisa hotla kwano re tlo tshehetsana le basebetsi ba masepala hobane rekase fetole maemo ana ao masepala wa rona o iphumaneng ole ka hara ona ntle le thuso ya lona empa ha reka tshwarisana mmoho reka kgutlisetsa masepala ona moo o loketseng hoba teng. He also enunciated that the municipality has appointed a contractor that will focus on resolving the water infrastructure challenges that has been a major setback for quite some time in the area of Tlholong.

    SAMWU Regional Chairperson Simphiwe Manyoni was also present and assured the current leadership of MAP that they will support them as long as they serve the interest of the employees for efficient service delivery. “We urge our employees not to get involved in politics but rather focus on rendering services to the community that we serve, we also noted the fact that the Mayor has done his research since he knows that Kestell Unit Manager post is still vacant” ,expressed Manyoni.

    One of the employees, Ace Molefe conveyed his support behind the Executive Mayor and the collective leadership and in addition pleaded with the Mayor to strive for equality and remain objective regarding work related issues.
