MAP INVIGORATES THOKOANA MAKAOTA SECONDARY SCHOOL LEARNERS

In building fountains of aspiration to bequeath the baton of education to learners Maluti A Phofung Local Municipality steered by Executive Mayor Vusimusi Tshabalala collaboratively with Members of Mayoral Committee, Councillors, Members of QLTC, SGB and Pastors paid a visit at Thokoana Makaota Secondary School at Mabolela Village to fuel pupils with enthusiasm to strive for academic excellence , more particularly Grade 12 learners, and access the school’s readiness. The courtesy back to school visit in essence was also to honour the late Morena wa Bakoena, Thokoana Makaota Mopeli and recollect the indelible legacy of education paved by the late Dr Tsiame Kenneth Mopeli whom was the Chief Minister of Qwaqwa.
Deeply embedded in the majestic mountains of Mabolela Village, Thokoana Makaota Secondary School led by Principal Tebello Tshabalala obtained 100% pass rate of National Senior Certificates 2017 with 76% Bachelors. The academic milestone of the school has contributed to raising the bar of Maluti A Phofung into an artefact of gold accelerating National Development Plan Vision 2030 as education has been declared an apex priority of the democratic government in 2009. MPAC Chairperson Cllr Sebina Khumalo stated as she advocated the students that education is the ladder out of poverty and economic stagnation. In quest for improved academics amongst pupils Pastor Kananelo Koetepe rendered a motivation during the assembly where he highlighted key apparatuses namely association, assimilation and discipline for a better life that propels them to greener pastures in their career path. Koetepe further discouraged the use of social media and rejuvenated learners to redirect their energy to study and participate in sporting activities.
As 2018 has been declared as the Year of Nelson Mandela themed “Be the Legacy”, a stalwart who believed in education to wave the struggle against poverty, inequality and unemployment, Cllr Vusimusi Tshabalala reinforced the value patriotism of protecting the golden footprints of education in the Free State. Tshabalala also made reference to MAP Bursary beneficiary Size Mzizi who obtained 32 distinctions and Mamello of which demonstrates that all is possible through hard work and commitment. “Re le Maluti A Phofung re ikotla sefuba ka hore re masepala wa pele ka hara naha hore re thuse baithuti ba fetang sekete ka ditekanyetso tsa tjhelete ya boleng ba dimilione”, reiterated Tshabalala. To further ensure that municipal services are delivered to the right quality and standard Tshabalala pledged that the municipality will delegate a consultant to commence with construction on the access road to the school. To ensure that quality education is promoted, one of the initiatives informed by Operation Hlasela 180 Days program, matriculant camps will be visited to monitor the progress. In closing remarks Dieketseng former Deputy of the RCL exclaimed, “ Re a leboha haholo ha baetapele ba tlile ho tla re kgothatsa le jetse peo mobung o nonneng,I am going to make my family proud”.
